In January 2023, Navantia UK was awarded a Ministry of Defence contract to build three Fleet Solid Support (FSS) vessels for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. As prime contractor, Navantia UK has partnered with UK designer BMT and Harland & Wolff to deliver this key defence maritime capability. Navantia SA will provide support, mentoring and transfer of knowledge and skills to its partners.

FSS Programme Sparks Job Growth in Belfast and across UK Supply Chain

The FSS programme will lead to a substantial net increase in the number of jobs in Belfast, supporting the UK Levelling Up agenda. A total of 1,000 manufacturing jobs will be involved. In addition, an expected 800 further jobs will be sustained across the UK supply chain, with some 120 high skilled jobs to be supported by designer BMT.
