Navantia UK recognised for its sustained support to the Armed Forces Community
Navantia UK has been awarded a Silver Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) award under the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community across its UK operations.
Presented by the Ministry of Defence, the Silver ERS award recognises employers that demonstrate meaningful support for veterans, reservists, cadet force adult volunteers and military spouses and partners through their recruitment practices, workplace policies and organisational culture.
As a major contributor to UK sovereign defence capability, Navantia UK employs members of the Armed Forces community across its operations in Appledore, Arnish, Belfast and Methil. The company actively supports reservists in the workplace, promotes career opportunities for veterans and service leavers and engages with cadet organisations and military-affiliated groups to encourage future careers in shipbuilding, engineering and the wider maritime sector.
The award comes as Navantia UK continues to expand its UK operations, including delivery of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary’s Fleet Solid Support programme and wider investment across defence, energy and advanced manufacturing. Navantia UK has now committed £157 million of planned investment across its four UK shipyards, including more than £98.5 million in Belfast and £26.7 million in Methil.
Donato Martínez, CEO of Navantia UK, said:
“This Silver award reflects how much the Armed Forces community means to Navantia UK. As we grow across defence, energy and engineering, the experience and dedication that veterans and reservists bring is exactly what we want at the heart of the business.
“We build ships for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and Royal Navy, so supporting the people who serve matters a great deal to us. Members of the Armed Forces community bring experience and skills that strengthen our teams across the UK, and we’re proud to work alongside them.”
